QAPCO CONTINUES SUPPORT OF QATAR UNIVERSITY POLYMER CHAIR

Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) have signed an agreement to continue “QAPCO Support of Polymer Chair at QU.”

In a special ceremony, Dr. Mohd Yousuf Al-Mulla, Vice Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, QAPCO, handed the cheque to Prof. Shaikha Abdulla Al-Misnad, President of Qatar University.

Dr. Al-Mulla said: “We believe that the support and development of polymer expertise is vital to our country’s future success and by developing skilled graduates, we are demonstrating our continuing mission to engage the needs of the community towards realizing the sustainability goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.”

QAPCO will make an annual investment of QR 950, 000 to support the Chair.

The Chair will also provide a valuable link between education and industry. The support of the Chair further underscores the company’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives as an investment in the country’s future.

The Polymer Chair will develop new research, application and training programmes in Plastic Industry and this will be integrated into undergraduate students’ projects, graduate thesis and summer internship/ training programmes to boost sharing of knowledge at all levels.

Rashid Abdulla Al-Sulaiti, Group Manager, Administration, further mentioned that: “This contribution is in line with QAPCO Corporate social responsibility and that QAPCO is happy to continue their support to Qatar University and the younger generation of professionals who will benefit from this initiative. He mentioned that surely QAPCO contribution in this regard will go a long way in helping several students succeed in their careers.”

The Chair will also provide specialized training for the QAPCO personnel to help support technical decision-making while encountering polymer challenges.
